You Decide Which One's For You

My car has never had a dome light.

I mean, it was there. It just never worked for some mysterious reason. It was getting power, and the light wasn't burnt out, but it never worked.

So last night, Cody and I decided we'd have a little fun with some blue LEDs. We took out the dome light entirely and put a lightswitch--a regular, home lightswitch--up there instead. We wired around my moonroof and hung two LEDs just between the front seats. Our first attempts were quite unsuccessful. After about five different rewiring attempts, I checked the fuse.

Yes! I managed to fry the poor blue fuse. I had an extra in my glove box, so all was not lost. We double checked all our wiring and didn't put the fuse back in until we were sure we had it right. Actually, we still had it wrong the first time, but that was ok. Finally, my car had light, and a nifty switch. Time for a test drive! We headed for my house. I pulled out and hit the switch.

Nothing.

I shut off the car and yelled at Cody. Just after doing that, it worked again. What the hell? So he got in and we took off. I hit the switch again. Nothing.

We agreed that the situation sucked.

Pulled into my driveway and a thought occured to me. The entire time we worked on my car, the doors were open. When I yelled at Cody, the door was open.

I parked and opened the door.

The light turned on.

Arrrrrgh.

We spent two hours putting in a light that only works when the doors are open.

Which is better than nothing, I guess. But I'm a little disappointed, still.

All is not lost! I've got an idea.

((Yes--this post really was a waste of your time.))

Looking Back I Can't Recall....

....why I thought Batman was so cool. I mean, when you come down to it, he's not a great superhero.

Yes. I am invoking the "superhero" clause of the geek contract. It clearly states that I, as a geek, can senselessly debate superheroes--and, added in 1968, superheroins--as I choose.

I mean, really. His superpowers? Well, he seems to be able to jump a really long way and not get hurt. Apart from that, he's got nothing.

Sure, he's strong, like most of those superhero types. But look at his back-up. The Batmobile. The utility belt. Robin. His own butler.

If I had that kinda money, I could be a superhero too.

And my costume wouldn't be made of spandex. What is it with superheros and spandex?

I'm not sure why, but I had to get that out.

Anyway. I got a call from a student at Knox to see if I had any questions. Naturally, I could think of nothing to ask. >.>;

There's something I keep wanting to post, and I never remember what it is except when I'm not around a computer. I gotta start writing things down.

Nick's on!

I need to get like twenty CDs from him. =D

*airguitar*

I'm not finishing this post until I remember what it was I wanted to post, dammit.

Oh, screw it.

What's The Point In Not Conforming If It Changes You

I'm really not very good at updating this, am I?

Anyway, let's start where I left off. All-State Band.

That was awesome. 'Specially for a music geek like myself. Ok, the 8-9 HOURS of practice was not-so-great. But we did awesome for the concert. All the other bands got the standing-ovation-after-a-minute-of-clapping deal. For us, everyone was out of their seats in four seconds flat. We even played an encore, which was the extremely fast circus march...faster. Insane.

Our director was a guy named Colonel Graham. Yes, he's a real Colonel. He directed the Air Force Band for seven or eight years. He was pretty awesome. Very intimidating, tho'. He got right to work as soon as we met him and at first, we kind of expected him to make us do push-ups or something for messing up. He didn't. =) It was kind of funny, too. His luggage ended up in Milwaukee, so he didn't have any of his stuff till a few hours before the concert. The last practice, he walked up and goes "Good news...I have clothes!"

My lips are still a little chapped from all that playing, though. The concert was definitely worth it, but my lips were hurtin'. Sunday, when I went for Chinese food with some friends, I couldn't eat anything spicy because it would burn =/

The way things are planned, I'm only minoring in music. But after last weekend, I really wonder if I'd rather major in it. >.>;; Choices...

I just bit my tongue.

So last week was pretty uneventful, after the weekend (of which I spent approximately 2 hours of at home).

This whole week, I'm going to be busy with forensics. =/

I'm getting up in about five hours. I think it's time to end this post.
