Radio (Not The Movie)
I always wondered how the pop groups I'm always hearing on the radio can still be around. I mean, clearly someone is buying these CDs. I've always just sort of assumed that it's the parents of the band, because, come on--the music's crap.
But recently I read a review of one of my favorite bands on amazon.com. It said that the rest of the CD was simply filler for the first two songs, which were radio hits.
Radio hits? Wait, I've never heard these guys on the radio. That's one of the reasons I like them.
But then I got to thinking. Almost all the negative reviews I've seen for any punk/alternative/whatever band, it's had something about how it's the same thing always played on the radio. But I've heard very little of this stuff on the radio.
So, I've finally figured out the mystery of radio stations. They control CD sales of an area by playing nothing but another genre until everyone hates it and refuses to buy it, thus appealing only to tourist from other areas.
People, I beg of you. Listen to music because you like it. Because it's good. Not because it's played on the radio--or because it's not. (I understand area will effect musical preference--it's unavoidable. But it gets ridiculous after a while.)
Anyway. Music annoyances aside.
Community Day was today. Fun stuff. Got to paint other people. I mean...a building. *cough*
